Dear Internet,

I'm recovering from the last traces of a cold that's had me good for a couple of days. My voice has almost fully returned and my nose no longer leaks. One bit of advice: drinking obscene amounts of green tea doesn't actually help a cold. In fact, the most it will do for you is throw you on an nerve-wrecking caffeine overdose with a night of reprise before a terrific headache the next day.

Also in the past week I screwed up my computer more thoroughly than I would have imagined possible. It's really saying something when someone as Windows-savvy as myself has to call it a lost cause, but that's exactly the state of my Windows XP. In response I took advantage of a recent Microsoft deal for students to get Vista at a decent price. Unfortunately the details of getting the right download from them are still in the works, and I've been in contact with a customer support representative who will probably end up not having enough authority to solve my problem anyway, but here's hoping.

In spite of these departures from my normal week, classes have been going quite well. I hope music appreciation continues being as enjoyable as it is now. The professor for my election elective is both a bitter leftist and feminist, but that hasn't stopped me from appreciating how much the class makes me think this presidential race. I'll probably have to break out the code and start programming next week for the first assignment coming up, but until then all my computer science classes get an enthusiastic "meh".

Happy birthday to Ward! I'll be home this weekend.

With Love,

Noah
